HAZAMA ANDO CORPORATION (“HAZAMA ANDO” or “the Company”)has acquired Advanced Smart Mobility Co., Ltd. (“Advanced Smart Mobility”), a startup venture business launched by The University of Tokyo.
Advanced Smart Mobility is engaged in the development and commercialization of autonomous driving bus and truck platooning technologies. In specific terms, the goal is to bring to fruition partial unmanned truck platooning, earmarked for commercialization from fiscal 2025, as outlined in the Progress report on efforts to support the development of autonomous driving technologies and create adequate policies version 4.0(Note 1) roadmap formulated by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Based on these endeavors, Advanced Smart Mobility will help realize a sustainable society and address a variety of concerns, including the need to resolve such transportation and logistics issues as the closure of bus routes, attributable to driver shortages, and the deterioration in local resident convenience, as well as revitalizing local communities through new urban development.
In addition to investing the funds required to help expand Advanced Smart Mobility’s business, HAZAMA ANDO will also consider further collaboration in such areas as the development of various technologies, including autonomous driving, that Advanced Smart Mobility is researching and developing for use in the construction field.
Moving forward, HAZAMA ANDO will work to further solidify its earnings base by strengthening its construction business and accelerating efforts in non-construction fields.
