HAZAMA ANDO CORPORATION (“HAZAMA ANDO” or “the Company”) has acquired Cube Earth Co., Ltd. (“Cube Earth”), one of the companies selected for the HAZAMA ANDO New Business Cocreation Program 2022(Note 1), conducted as part of its efforts to realize the HAZAMA ANDO VISION2030 long-term vision.
Cube Earth is a startup venture business that is working to provide smart disaster prevention systems to local governments. These systems employ the CubeEarth geographic information system(Note 2), which has been patented in the U.S. and Japan.
In recent years, natural disasters have become increasingly severe and frequent owing to the changes in climatic conditions attributable to global warming. Despite the considerable damage that continues to ensue, there are limitations to the ability of such hardware as embankments to prevent disasters. Meanwhile, the means for local governments to share and communicate information in the event of a disaster from a software perspective is still conducted primarily on an analog basis. With this in mind, strong demand for the digitalization of crisis management operations using Cube Earth’s smart disaster prevention systems is expected.
Smart disaster prevention systems provide timely information on the status of damage, evacuation center operations, the safety of evacuees, and other pertinent data in the event of a disaster. CubeEarth is a simple platform that can quickly convert public information into mesh data, making it highly stable and resistant to freezing. CubeEarth can also be used offline during power outages, making it an effective system in times of disaster.
In addition to investing the funds required to engage in such activities as the development of systems, HAZAMA ANDO will provide its full support including the use of its operating network to help Cube Earth expand its business.
